Overview
The renovation of The Field School – a diverse, classical school located in Chicago’s Austin neighborhood – transformed a long-vacant, historic Chicago Public School building into a vibrant educational and community hub.
Respecting the design of its original architect, Dwight H. Perkins, the renovation integrated modern building systems and educational technology while preserving significant architectural features and meeting contemporary code requirements. TFS demonstrates how thoughtful historic preservation can advance educational access, neighborhood investment, and lasting community renewal.
