The Sankofa Village Wellness Center
Converge Architecture · Chicago, IL
Overview
Located in West Garfield Park, the Sankofa Village Wellness Center is widely recognized as the neighborhood’s first major new construction project in roughly 60 years, representing a significant investment in a community that has experienced decades of disinvestment.
The neighborhood faces a nearly 20-year life expectancy gap compared with downtown Chicago. Built on long-vacant land after more than 15 years of community effort, the Center integrates healthcare, fitness, behavioral health, workforce development, and economic opportunity.
